MIP System Engineering & Architecture Working Group (SEAWG) Modelling discipline as well as some other technical tasks and works are performed by SEAWG. It is in here where MIP specifies how interoperability solution is going to be designed and therefore built.
The SEAWG is the working group performing the system modelling discipline in MIP with support from the other WGs. The SEAWG works under the guidelines and direction of the MSG/PMG and coordinates its activities with the other working groups. The purpose of the system modelling discipline is to model the relevant aspects of the C2IS (system level) to the MIP solution. This discipline is concerned with: understanding the context to the system, developing the system requirements, developing the system’s structure, behaviour and performance, developing the technical specifications of the interface, developing the system test cases that will be used to verify the MIP solution, as well s defining elements of risk and risk mitigation alternatives. The main tasks of the SEAWG are among others:
* More comprehensive list may be found in MPMP. Each Full Member use to send at least one representative to the SEAWG. In addition, representation from interested organisations participating, or interested in deploying a MIP solution package (HQ ARRC, HQ EUROCORPS, EUROFOR, etc) and otherwise not an associated member, may be invited to attend. The MSG takes the decision on this matter. Decisions and Action Items are made by unanimous agreement, of all national representatives or their empowered representatives. Where unanimity is not achieved, the SEAWG Chair may raise the issue to the PMG for resolution. Decisions will be made among equals. The WG meeting forecast is included in the MIPS. The WGs usually conduct work at the WP level. This is of special relevance when dealing with System Modelling matters since that discipline is very wide and comprises many different aspects. A WP is composed of individuals with specific expertise from different WGs brought together to address a specific subject or group of subjects usually requiring a multidisciplinary approach. WPs provide their result(s) back to the tasking WG for further action and directions while the WP members report the results back to their parent WG as appropriate to keep their peers up to date on current efforts and outcomes. Under the direction and/or concurrence of the PMG, the SEAWG or any other WG, may establish MDWPs and their composition. The different WG chairmen involved in the MDWP provide the necessary resources to them. The Chairman of the SEAWG has the authority to reassign personnel resources to another MDWP if he deems that necessary for the progress of work within that MDWP. He thereafter must seek endorsement of his decision by the PMG. MDWP will be temporary by nature. The extension will be determined by the aim and outcomes of the MDWP and the parent WG will provide an initial estimation. Most of current MDWP are under the supervision of SEAWG. Many of them are focused on the production of a specific document or artefact such as the Security WP which works on the MSISP (MIP System Interconnection Security Policy). The SEAWG also coordinates their works. The OWG normally meets four times per year, concurrently with the other MIP WGs. Other meetings may be called at the request of any Member of the OWG in accordance with the procedures established in the MPMP. The MSG designates a member to provide the Chairman for the SEAWG following a review of nominations. The MSG designates a Deputy Chairman from a different Nation afterwards. If a member is unable to provide a chairman, the MSG asks another member to provide one. There is a long variety of products coming out of SEAWG work. Let us mentioned some of them such as:
There are many other that are referred and hyperlinked in "Documents" page. All the documents listed there are available for either reading or downloading. * Although the most important MIP documents are published in MIP Public Area, not all are available here. To gain access to those which are not in Public Area you requires proper name and password for Members' Area. If you already have it click on Members'.
